Welcome

Hello! This is Dr. Will Thalheimer.

Since founding Work-Learning Research in 1998, my goal has been to help my clients maximize the effectiveness of their learning interventions and learning environments, while also working to improve our field. I do this by exhaustively compiling research from the world's preeminent refereed journals and translating that research with practical wisdom.

Through my speaking engagements, workshops, learning audits, and consulting, I help enlightened clients build world-class learning programs.

I can help your organization build wildly more effective learning.

And now, with my partners Centrax, I can build research-based e-learning too. See the column on the right, labeled "Better E-Learning."

Research helps us make better learning-design decisions.

Every year I read over 200 research articles from the world's preeminent refereed journals on learning, memory, and instruction. I compile the findings into research reports that provide practical advice.

While I used to sell my research reports from 2002 to 2008, I now give them all away for free.

Measuring Learning

Several years ago, I began to  explore "learning measurement" because I was sure that measurement was a critical leverage point in our learning-and-performance practices.

While others continue with tired, inadequate measurement traditions, I've done the hard work to bring new research-based insight to bear on measurement.

The secret is grounding our measurement practices in the fundamentals of human learning.

Let me help you build better measurement solutions or a more complete understanding.

Check out my paradigm-changing research-to-practice report, "Measuring Learning Success." It's not just some silly commercial whitepaper. It's authentic, research-based intelligence that will change the way you think about learning measurement.

Learning Audits

It's always a good idea to get an outside, unbiased perspective― especially when that perspective is based on years of practical experience and wisdom drawn from 12 years compiling research from the world's pre-eminent refereed journals on learning, memory, and performance.

My learning audits take many forms, from quick-and-dirty analyses of your learning programs or learning designs, to in-depth analyses of your workplace learning environment, benchmarking your learning interventions against the research-based best practices.

Or you can take it even further with control-group studies that can help you prove your effectiveness.
